The Intent of A Realtor

It is said that to truly understand someone we must understand their intent. Knowing someone is to know what they intend to provide, do, take, or give and I want you to know me! So here, in my first ever blog post, I would like to reveal my intent for my business, the services I offer and the intended result to my clients. First, I’d like to give you a little background on me as an investor and Realtor.

It was 1999 and I became interested in the idea of real estate investing. I read everything I could on the subject then I sold my alarm company and enthusiastically began a life as a real estate investor. I hadn’t thought about becoming a Realtor. I bought several homes that summer and never dealt with the same agent twice. The reason was that none of the agents I bought houses from ever asked what I was trying to achieve – they missed my intent. Even though my investment goals were quite modest and easy to fulfill, none of those agents who sold me property ever bothered to follow-up and ask if I wanted more property.

This is where I saw an opportunity. It was a level of poor attention to client needs that sparked my curiosity in being a Realtor. I went through the training course and, while it taught me how to fill out the paperwork, I quickly learned that the formal training didn’t provide any help with how to actually sell a home for a client, price a property, negotiate for a buyer, or service a client’s needs. These are things I would learn on my own and I have come to excel in them.

I decided I wanted to be different and that there was a need for a Realtor with a different level of service. So, I set forth a list of intentions that I live by. They are:

  • Actually listen to the client. Find out what they want and need then deliver advice and services consistent with that.

  • Provide the level of service I would want if I were the client.

  • Utilize my extensive knowledge and experience to help others make smart, informed decisions and achieve their investment goals.

  • Provide services, knowledge and tools to help clients sell their homes for more money and buy the best possible house for their budget.

  • Ensure each client is better off for having used my services and would recommend me to friends, family and acquaintances .

Real estate investing is my passion and I sincerely want to help others get on the path to investing as well. Whether you are buying or selling your first house or your tenth, I have knowledge, experience and a commitment to really knowing my clients that will give you a better experience during and after we work together. Let me help you achieve your goals and realize your own intent.
