Description

The Blackmud Creek community is one of the larger developments within the Blackmud suburb and is positioned just to the west of Calgary Trail and south of Ellerslie Drive. This section consists of homes, commercial zoning, and parts of the Blackmud Creek Ravine to create a unique living space with a very rural feel that is still close to modern amenities.

This community was established in the late 1990s and although some development is still current it is one of the older neighborhoods within the district. The street plan utilizes a number of crescents and cul-de-sacs, with a pond centrally located in the middle of the main circle road. Homes for sale in Blackmud Creek are mainly single-family residences, and townhouses and duplexes may be found closer to the border roads and the commercial district. Wooded lots are prevalent in this community, and the landscape is fluid from the preserve land through the housing areas.

Many trails are incorporated in the living space, giving residents pedestrian routes across the community. These connect and continue on to the parklands, and a number of the inhabitants enjoy hiking along the wilderness trails in their leisure time. The shopping centre to the northwest corner of the development has a variety of businesses including a Sobey’s for groceries and fresh goods, as well as a post office.

As a family friendly neighborhood, parents will find well rated educational services through Monsignor Fee Otterson School. The Ellerslie Pre-school is also locally situated and has early learning and day care programs.
