Buying A Home In Beaumont, AB:

The Beaumont area is located in the southern suburbs of Edmonton and is spread over an area of approximately 10.5 square kilometers.  This section is primarily English speaking, with about 14% of the residents also bi-lingual in French.  Beaumont started out as a French farming colony in the late 1800’s and became incorporated as a town in 1919.  Since the 1970’s, the area has experienced strong economic and residential growth, and is considered the 7th fastest growing area in Canada.

From the late 1980’s on, Beaumont has increased residence with the expansion into small communities.  In keeping with the roots that the town has with farming, as these properties have been designed to provide dwelling in safe neighbourhoods that also offer a number of recreational and community benefits.  Communities within this area include Beau Val, Beaumont Lakes, Citadel Ridge, Colonial Estates, Eaglemont Heights, Four Season Estates, Goudreau Terrace, Place Chaleureuse, and Triomphe Estates.  Each of these communities can offer residents amenities that are specific to the sub-division, while still being a part of the greater Beaumont culture.

Located just 3.5 kilometers from Edmonton, Beaumont is home to many professionals who work within the fields of education, healthcare, manufacturing, and business within the city.  A large number of residents are also involved in construction, agriculture, and forestry work directly in Beaumont and in outlying areas of Edmonton.  This mix of economic focus provides the area with a strong financial base that is also capable of steady growth potential.

Overall, the Beaumont area is know for its higher quality of life.  Residents are drawn to these communities since they offer a small town atmosphere that has a good location.  Friendly neighbours, a peaceful atmosphere, and good services for shopping and leisure are all highly rated by current residents.

Beaumont offers a unique charm that is reminiscent of French villages, and the area has a number of features that contribute to this singular appeal.  Architecturally, this is seen in the construction, and particularly the green roofs of area houses.  The community identity is further reinforced with parks, skate rinks, and trails that provide a comfortable space for recreations and events.  The iconic St. Vital Church overlooks the area from a hilltop location, and provides further character and culture.

The area of Beaumont ranks higher in yearly average earnings than the rest of the province, with a median salary of nearly $100,000 for family households and $47,000 for single earners.  Demographics also show that the majority of households are either family units or have children in residence, and this has led to the well rated school system that provides elementary, middle, and high school education to younger residents.  As one aspect of community identity, the high school works with municipal partners to promote the melding of history and technology through youth apprenticeships.  This offers an inclusive way for children and parents to participate in area culture and also to provide workforce training that benefits Beaumont.
