Homes For Sale In Westwood Community - Edmonton, AB

Properties in Westwood

The Westwood community may be found to the very north west of the larger NAIT area, and is located south of Yellowhead Trail, and just north of the main NAIT campus. Although Westwood is well established and has its suburban incorporation dating back to the early 1900's, this residential area has been very secluded for many decades. Even with greater development in the 1940's, much of the community remained separated from the rest of the North Central Edmonton sector.

More About Buying A Home In Westwood Community - Edmonton, AB:

The push for more suburban housing to accommodate the expansion of Edmonton's downtown would eventually lead to greater construction in the Westwood neighborhood throughout the 1970's. Homes for sale in Westwood have a mainly single family dwelling design, while duplexes and town homes became slightly later additions during this construction period. This has also kept the development very pedestrian friendly, with safe and well-travelled sidewalks along the tree lined streets.

Numerous bus stops are located along 122nd Avenue and the bordering roads, and these make connections to adjoining communities, as well as the nearby Stadium Station and Coliseum Station LRT stops. Easy routes to the Kingsway Mall are also afforded in this fashion, or through pedestrian travel.

Westwood offers parents the H.A. Grey Public School within the neighborhood, and study at nearby Edmonton Catholic Schools is also a possibility. Beacon Home Stay gives working parents pre-school lessons and day care services, while the active Westwood Community League has after school and volunteer programs. The league also plays a large part in generating community integration and culture with renewal projects and social events like marshmallow roasts and pancake breakfasts.
