Idylwylde Homes For Sale - Edmonton, AB
To the southern side of the central Bonnie Doon area, Idylwylde is a smaller neighborhood that has been established in the region since 1914. As with many of the communities in South Central Edmonton, much of the residential space remained fairly rural until the mid-1900s, when the end of World War II and the discovery of oil deposits in nearby sections generated the need for more living space.
Although Idylwylde has been considerably built up since its agrarian start, the subdivision still uses natural landscaping and parklands to preserve a restful residential space.
Idylwylde is considered to be very family friendly, and the primary type of home for sale in the community is a single family dwelling. Well sized lots incorporate much vegetation, and the roadways have a good sidewalk system for pedestrian travel. The street plan favors an open grid, which also results in a quieter centre of the neighborhood, while shopping and public transportation are busier around the borders. Idylwylde sits just to the east of the Bonnie Doon Mall, where most residents do their shopping.
Edmonton Public Schools serve parents and children in Idylwylde, but education through Waverly School and Rutherford School are also possibilities. Metro Continuing Education has classes for older children and adults, and the Edmonton School of Ballet furthers artistic endeavors.
Near Idylwylde Park, some recreational destinations are also to be found. The Bonnie Doon Leisure Centre has fitness facilities and programs for inhabitants of all ages, while the Idylwylde Community Rink has private and community events for sports and activity.
