Highlands Homes For Sale - Edmonton, AB
The actual community of Highlands can be found towards the southern edge of the greater Highlands area and is just north of the North Saskatchewan River, with many of the homes here offering excellent access to the river valley, in addition, the exceptional views from the homes on Ada Boulevard. This subdivision is primarily residential, and homes for sale in the community include single-family dwellings and townhouses which are situated on large, mature lots.
This design feature is in keeping with the history of the area, as it was mainly agricultural land that was owned by employees of the Hudson Bay Company.
The Highlands neighborhood is well established, with initial incorporation into Edmonton in the early 1900s and later development through the 1950s and 1960s. This has resulted in a pleasantly livable area that is considered very pedestrian friendly within the boundaries. Bus stops are situated along 118th Avenue and 112th Avenue to give access to public transportation, and the Coliseum Station LRT stop is found about a kilometer to the west.
Highlands is also thought of as quite family friendly, with a number of choices for outdoor recreation and several schools that serve the district. Educational facilities include Mt. Royal School and the Highlands School, both of which are relatively central to the territory. While parks within the residential space give access to trails for cycling and walking, as well as playground facilities, the Highlands Golf Club on the river banks is a large draw for many residents. This course also features clubhouse facilities like dining and fitness equipment, along with an 18 hole green.
The Highlands neighborhood is a peaceful natural environment that is very close to public transportation and major roads. It is a good setting for families and single professionals who have business in the nearby downtown area.
