Description

The community of Eastwood is located almost adjacent to the NAIT campus and is just north of 118th Avenue. This neighborhood features a classic grid street pattern and the addition of parkland and natural landscaping offer the section a peaceful suburban feel. Although the established community is surrounded by major roadways, the interior remains relatively quiet, which makes it very pedestrian and cyclist friendly.

The initial subdivision of Eastwood took place in the early 1900’s, but major construction and development occurred much later in the 1970’s. The result is that most of the homes for sale in Eastwood are single family dwellings, with some townhouses disbursed near the border roads. Private and shared lots are well sized, and the tree lined streets ad to the restful and welcoming atmosphere of Eastwood.

This community is considered to be family friendly, and parents are able to find well rated educational institutions within the neighborhood. Eastwood School, Edmonton Catholic Schools, and Parkdale School are all valid options.

Bus stops along the border roads can connect residents with the LRT stop at the Coliseum station, and this offers access to further suburbs and to downtown Edmonton. Shopping and other businesses along 118th Avenue can give provisions and entertainment for residents. For casual dining with a tropical flair, Las Palmas Restaurant is a local favorite. This Kingsway Mall is also close by for further retail choices.

Both Alberta Park and Eastwood Park add natural beauty and the chance for outdoor activities. These spaces give residents facilities for acting, soccer, and baseball, as well as playground equipment for children.
