Description

The community of Baldwin is one of the more established residential areas of the greater Northgate region. This community is situated between 82nd Street to the west and 66th Street to the east, and abuts the Yellowhead corridor. When this community first became a part of the city suburbs in the early 1900’s Balwin was home to a number of meat packing plants that shipped directly through the rail lines, and residences for these families were sparsely distributed over the larger area.

With industrial changed in the 1950’s, this sector was further developed to include a number of housing lots and some commercial zoning.

Homes for sale in Balwin include mainly single family homes and duplexes on private lots. The open grid pattern for the streets creates a good amount of seclusion between structures. This is further enhanced by the use of trees and park lands, to result in a comfortably suburban environment.

As a family friendly neighborhood, Balwin gives parents a decent choice of private and public educational services. These include the Princeton School, the Balwin School, and Thomas Moore Academy. The institutions are also well spaced across this larger community so that they give residents a better proximity to living space.

Public transportation in Balwin is also easy to access. Bus stops run across the development and are also situated along the boundary roads. Balwin is less than a half kilometer from the Belvedere Station LRT stop, while commuters who do drive will find good access to major thoroughfares like Yellowhead Trail.
