Allendale Houses For Sale - Edmonton, AB
The neighborhood of Allendale may be found in the very south east corner of the University of Alberta area and while it is primarily a residential community, it is bordered by an industrial region to the east. This section had been initially used for agriculture and was mostly open land, even when it became incorporated with Edmonton in the early 1900’s.
Much of the residential development to Allendale occurred in the mid 1900’s and the grid pattern street plan is an evidence of this construction period.
Allendale has a very suburban feel, in that a number of parks and preserve lands are used for borders, and the lots are landscaped with wooded spaces to afford greater seclusion. Homes for sale in Allendale include single family structures and duplexes, and these are set on quiet local roads that also give residents good pedestrian access within the area.
Bus stops are positioned along 106th Street through the centre of the neighborhood, and along the boundary roads, while the South Campus – Ft. Edmonton LRT Station is about a kilometer to the west. This makes getting around an easy task, and car commuters can use 61st Avenue to connect with thoroughfares into the downtown area.
This neighborhood is considered to be family friendly, and has educational options within the local area. Allendale School is the main institution for children who live here, and Strathcona High School is found just to the north of the section borders. Residents often use nearby shopping at the business park in the industrial area, and Alpine Health to the east serves wellness needs.
